darjeeling tour (india)

There is nowhere quite a place like Darjeeling "Queen of hills" which nature has chosen with care and blessed it with beauty and lush greenery of the tea garden. It is far from the maddening crowds of the metros.
There is no finer place than Darjeeling to steep yourself in the grandeur and beauty of the towering snow-capped mountains. Its a fascinating place where you can see Buddhist monasteries, visit a tea plantation and see how the tea is processed, spend days for bargains in colorful markets and handicraft shops or go trekking to high altitude spots near the border with Sikkim.
There is lovely verdure every where- fir and pines. The views over the mountains to the snowy peaks of the Kanchenjunga and down to the swollen rivers in the valley bottom are magnificent.
Darjeeling has been very popular hill station, since the British established it as an R & R Center for their troops in the mid eighteen hundreds.
Best time : Best time to visit Darjeeling is mid September to mid December and resumes from mid March to mid June.
Altitude: 2134 mtr.

Nepal has several ancient pilgrimage sites. Each temple is attached to a legend or belief that glorifies the miraculous powers of its deity. Kathmandu Valley is home to the famous Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhu Stupa and several other famous temples. Hundreds of famous temples are located in and around the Kathmandu Valley. Some well-known pilgramage sites are: Barah Chhetra, Halesi Mahadev, Janakpur, Pathibhara, Tengboche in East Nepal; Manakaman, Gorkha, Lumbini, Muktinath, Gosainkunda, Tansen, Kathmandu Valley in Central Nepal; and Swargadwari, Khaptad Ashram in West Nepal.
Nepal is also the Gateway to Kailash Mansarovar, the mythical abode of Lord Shiva. Devotees from various parts of Nepal and India throng the temples during special festivals. Even though weak infrastructure renders some places hard to reach, efforts are being made on national level to develop and promote some popular sites.
Pilgrimage sites of Nepal like Muktinath and Gosainkunda make popular trekking destinations. Tours to these sites are encouraged for the novelty they provide in terms of nature and culture.

There may be no more picturesque place on earth than nepal, for its natural beauty and ancient culture, barely touched by the modern world. Picture the "city" of kathmandu, pokhara, with one traffic light and no need for that. Picture decorated wooden homes with windowed balconies and a crossed phallus and sword hung at each roof corner. Picture "spirit catchers" discarded by the path, having been abandoned, along with the malevolent beings they ensnared, to the wilds. Picture happy and smiling people, deeply religious and deeply hospitable, and far "richer" than you or I. Religion is a part of life and self for the mostly nepalese, It instructs the great arts and crafts of nepal: painting, woodwork, sculputre, embroidery and leather work, weaving and paper. All this is part of the rich fabric of nelpese culture. There are many nature reserves and parks in nepal, and several unique species. and the trout are enormous! The great dzongs of nepalese are fortified monasteries and administrative centers. The country's civil service is largely made up of buddhis and hindus ; The Dzongs are large, impressive forts - each unique in decoration, form and function. Parts of dzongs will be off-limits, understandably as they are functioning offices and worship centers as well as spectacular attractions.
